The DITP is an intensive course of classroom instruction and training that prepares men and women for Christian service in churches following the pattern and principles of the New Testament.

Participants must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, be fully devoted to the training, and be in general agreement with the doctrinal position of the teachers of the DITP.

The Discipleship Intern Training Program seeks to provide equal opportunity and training to all people and does not discriminate on the basis of sex, age, disability, race, color, origin of nation, or ethnic ancestry. Both men and women are encouraged to apply.

Program Schedule

The internship is nine months long. It begins in late August with an orientation and dinner for interns and their spouses.

Seeking to be sensitive to the Lord’s leading, the program is offered each year contingent upon the availability of qualified students. Class size is limited at ten students. Typically we would like to see five qualified students accepted by June 1 if we are to offer an internship the following September. If there is a lack of qualified students, those who have applied will be asked to wait on the Lord until the following year.

Application Process

  • Fill out the information on this form

  • Email a digital picture of yourself to the registrar. Pictures should be sent to Jessica Abraham, the program registrar, at jessica.ann.abraham@gmail.com. Your application will not be processed until we receive both the application and the picture.

  • Notify your references (your application should include three) that we will be contacting them. Ask them to respond promptly. We cannot process your application until all three respond.

There is no application fee. Processing requires approximately eight weeks, depending on the speed with which we hear back from your references. Class size is limited to ten interns. Internships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Applicants may apply up to three years in advance of training.

Costs and Housing

Registration Fee

$3,200

Offsets the cost of materials, ministries, instructor expenses, and group outings. This fee is due on the first day of training.

Mission Trip Expenses

$1,000

Covers flights, ground transportation, group meals, and evangelistic materials. This fee is due on January 15th, at about the midpoint of the nine-month internship.

Software & Books

~$750

Interns who already own some of the required supplies will not need this full amount. More information about supplies will be distributed closer to the beginning of the program.

Interns are responsible for their living expenses, personal transportation, and medical care. A two-bedroom apartment typically rents for about $800 per month in Lubbock. A three-bedroom house is about $1,200 per month. To view some typical listings of houses for rent, you can also view the rental listings at 806 Property Management. Information about the cost of food is available at Market Street United.

Information for Non-US Applicants

Non-US citizens will be required to get a VISA to enter the country. After being accepted into the program, the necessary forms will be provided by DITP in order to set up an appointment with the appropriate government agency within each specific country. The intern needs to make this appointment in plenty of time to allow your government to process the paperwork. Lead-time for appointments varies by country, so it is incumbent upon the applicant to look into this early in the process.
